Mary (Heldebrant) Clawson (c. 1839) |
Mary was born in 1818, which would allow this portrait to be created in 1839, when Mary was 20-21 and her husband, James, was hypothetically 24-25. It would also allow the later portrait of Mary and her sons, Daniel and William, to have been created around 1850 so both boys could later serve in the Civil War. The assumption in all this is that the portraits of James and Mary were created at roughly the same time; if the assumption holds, the remainder of the outline seems to be plausible. Mary's maiden name was Heldebrant (may have gotten the spelling wrong on this).
