Finding the clues are easy with the help of Steve, his dog Blue,
and all their friends. This popular show from Nickelodeon takes a
unique approach; instead of airing a new episode every day, they
play the same show Monday through Friday. This repetition reinforces
that week’s lessons, activities, and skills to the toddlers and
pre-schoolers and parents watching.
Besides the invaluable educational lesson that “Blue’s Clues”
provides, they also set a good example by breaking through some very
old stereotypes. Blue is a girl dog, and she is interested in all
types of subjects from math to science to reading to art. She has
lots of friends, one of whom is another dog – a boy named Magenta.
Her other friends are a cadre of talking object, Mr. Salt and Mrs.
Pepper (and their child Paprika), Slippery the Soap, Mailbox the
mailbox, just to name a few. They, with the help of unseen children
(we only hear them), help Steve figure out the three clues that Blue
leaves all over the house and surrounding area.
We Just Got a Letter! We Just Got a
Letter! Like any popular show, “Blue’s Clues” merchandise
is everywhere and in all forms imaginable. However, most of these
products are really quite educational and continue to reinforcement
the lessons seen on the television episodes.
For the fan who can’t get enough of the show, many episodes are
available on VHS tapes. When the holidays get close, 'Blue's
Clues - Blue's Big Holiday' is a great addition to the
traditional holiday fare that’s usually available. The artsy fans
will love the ideas they get from 'Blue's
Clues - Arts & Crafts'. If a little brother or sister is on
the way, then 'Blue's
Clues - Blue's Big News - The Baby's Here!' is a good way to
introduce the sibling-to-be to the idea of a larger family. Kids
often notice when a person isn’t quite like others, and in 'Blue's
Clues - All Kinds of Signs' Steve and Blue learn how to talk to
deaf people in sign language.
In her first feature-length movie, 'Blue's
Clues - Blue's Big Musical Movie', Blue and her friends are
putting on a musical show in the backyard. But when Tickey-Tock,
Blue’s duet partner, can’t sing, Steve (and the audience) has to
figure out who her new partner is going to be by finding the clues
she leaves. Although this is almost 80 minutes long, fans of the
show will be riveted by the new songs as well as singing along with
their old favorites from the TV show. And the 'Blue's
Big Musical Movie' will keep the kids singing even after the
movie is over. They can even keep track of the clues from their
favorite shows using their own 'Blue's
Clues Handy Dandy Notebook'.
From Our Friends Blue’s many friends come over
to play with 'Blue's
Clues Pail & Shovel Set' at the 'Blue's
Clues Playhouse'. The familiar shapes of Blue’s friends from the
TV show will delight young fans as they act out their favorite
scenes and create new interactions between the characters. 'Blue's
Clues Make a Puzzle: Blue & Magenta' and 'Blue's
Clues Felt Friends and Activity Felt Board' help with fine motor
skills, as well as encourage creative storytelling. 'Telling
Time With Tickety Tock (Blue's Clues)' is a fun way for kids to
learn how to tell time – so they’ll figure out when Blue’s Clues
comes on television all by themselves.
When 'Blue
Skidoos to the Planets: 27 Stickers Inside! (Blue's Clues)', a
regular handy, Dandy Notebook may not be enough if you want to go
outside and look at the stars. Luckily the 'Blue's
Clues Light-Up Handy Dandy Notebook' is available for any
nighttime activities. And, when it comes time for 'Blue's
Big Pajama Party (Blues Clues)' don’t forget your 'Blue's
Clues Slumber Bag with Magenta' to snuggle in to.
Because We're Really Smart! From 'Weather
Games With Blue! (Blues Clues)', where learning about the
seasons is done with several games, to understanding different
tactile surfaces with 'Who
Am I: A Book to Touch and Feel (Blue's Clues)', Blue has a
definite hold over toddlers and pre-schoolers. The educational
products extend into the computer age, too. Kids can practice their
numbers ('Blue's
Clues 123 Time Activities'), their letters ('Blues
Clues ABC Time Activities (Jewel Case)'), and telling time ('Blue's
Clues Learning Time') while also learning more about how
computers work.
“Now It’s Time For So Long . . .: Tired of
those same old, same old kid’s songs. Blue has several CDs available
with new songs as well as some from the TV show (“We Just Figured
Out Blue’s Clues”). Have 'A
Playdate with Blue: A Playtime Musical Adventure' while driving
on vacation; experience 'Blue's
Clues - Blue's Big Treasure: A Musical Adventure' while running
errands; and say 'Goodnight
Blue' when it’s time for bed.
Goodnight, Blue. |
